Professor
DeKay is interested in judgment and decision making,
particularly in the environmental and medical domains.
His current research projects involve perceptions
of ecological risks; ranking health, safety, and environmental
risks; precautionary reasoning; and the perceived
fungibility of outcomes in repeated decisions. He
is a member of the National Research Council's Panel
on Public Participation in Environmental Assessment
and Decision Making.
