EPP GRADUATE EDUCATION

Information and Frequently Asked Questions

What's So Special About EPP?

If you have taken the time to read through this web page, we hope you have gotten the impression that Engineering & Public Policy at Carnegie Mellon University is a very special department where a very rigorous, yet exciting and innovative graduate education can be obtained.  We are at the cutting edge of research in methods development and problem solving for many of the key issues facing the world at the interface of engineering, science and policy.  We seek to provide a demanding and rewarding environment where individuals can learn and grow while contributing to new knowledge and insights for decision making on important national and international problems.

Our approach, while rigorous, is not conventional.  We are highly interdisciplinary in our approach to education and research and willing to try new approaches.  We believe that this approach has proven itself able to stand up to traditional standards of scholarship and excellence, while providing the flexibility to address new and emerging issues that cannot be solved using the tools of a single, traditional discipline.

While we value the growth of our students as scholars, we also value them as people.  As noted in our most recent external Advisory Board report, ". . . EPP is the unquestioned world-leader in its field. . . .EPP's major strength is its people - students, faculty and leadership."  If you would like to add to our strength, we look forward to hearing from you.
