6. Graduate Student Advisory Committee (SAC)
The EPP Graduate SAC exists to provide students with a friendly and open forum in which they can share ideas, research, concerns, and experiences. SAC coordinates academic and social activities, addresses topics relevant to both Engineering and Public Policy and life as a graduate student, and provides a mechanism for communication and input to the Department on policy and other matters. A board consisting of one student from each year's class, plus EPP's GSA representative, meets regularly to plan and coordinate SAC activities. Board meetings are open to ALL students, and Department-wide planning meetings are held once a semester. All graduate students are defacto members of SAC.
The SAC serves three major roles: (1) as a link to the department, making sure concerns of students are expressed and considered in departmental decision making; (2) as coordinator of the SAC seminar series, consisting of bi-weekly seminars of various types, presented by students, faculty members, or outside speakers; (3) as planner of social activities and manager of GSA funds, provided from student activity fees.
If you are interested in being involved with SAC, please get in touch with Mitch.
